Ryan earned his B.A. in International Studies from the University of California, Irvine. As an undergraduate, he focused on American Politics and interned at the United States Congress. Based in San Francisco, he has worked with over a hundred students and helped them get into the college of their dreams. His experience helps him understand the struggles that students deal with on a daily basis. By assisting students to recognize their strengths and overcome their weaknesses, Ryan strives to show students how to successfully reach their academic goals one step at a time.
Growing up as an adventurist, Ryan backpacked alone from the cold desolate mountains in Alaska and to the vibrant countrysides of Europe in his quest for knowledge. He also enjoys sailing and has battled in several races in the South China Sea. In the near future, he hopes to apply his survival skills to encourage students to overcome their obstacles.
Ryan is a former admission representative at Fay School, a prestigious junior boarding school in Massachusetts. He is also an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association.

Matt Shen is a SAT instructor who works with students of all different backgrounds and ability to help them achieve a score that best reflect their academic ability. Matt understands the immense pressure and stress that students bring into the classroom and strives to provide a productive learning environment that serves as a respite from the traditional classroom setting. Matt is currently a Freshman Biology student-teacher at Mills High School. Matt holds a BS in Biology from UCLA and is currently pursuing a Single Subject Teaching Credential at San Francisco State University.

Ethan strongly believes in the potential for higher education to change lives – his years at UC Berkeley are still with him in his everyday life in the form of his passion for sustainability and his partner of many years. Ethan studied the broad field of environmental problem solving, focusing specifically on the role food, cities, and ethics influence environmental issues. After working at an international environmental non-profit after graduation, Ethan dove into the world of education to make a more tangible difference in the lives of students.
After two and a half years as a private education advisor, Ethan is pursuing his own education once more, this time by traveling across Asia and the Middle East for one year. He is eager to utilize the lessons he learns during his trip to inform his decision to pursue a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning.

A third generation boarding school graduate of Fay School and The Lawrenceville School, Douglas studied film and video at UC Berkeley. Winning a scholarship to an MIT Film workshop brought Douglas back East. He stayed, apprenticing and free-lancing in NYC and eventually opened his own studio on Fifth Avenue where he produced award winning creative projects for Levi’s, Sony, Nikon, Vogue, Microsoft.
Bodies of his work have been published by simon & schuster, popular photography magazine & nikon corporate. he’s lived and worked in asia for over two decades, including hong kong (cathay pacific in-flight videos), bangkok, jakarta and singapore (esl motivational workshops, storytelling, brand development). he’s obsessed with exploring and sharing experiences related to culture, motivation and creativity.

Jamie Barker has been educating young people in different settings for many years. She earned her B.A. in English, with a minor in Psychology. She received a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, and was a Dean's Medal finalist and Honors Program participant. She has taught AP English and many other English courses in a private high school, as well as writing groups for men and women in the county jail, and as a writing consultant for college students working on their theses and dissertations. She has a love for writing and reading and loves to encourage that love in her students.

Robin graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Economics. During his time in college, he interned at a global financial service firm where he published numerous articles on Yahoo finance. Upon his graduation, he has worked at two global investment banks as an equity research analyst. At LionRock, Robin hopes to make social impacts by leveraging his background in the financial industry to mentor students in their academic and personal lives.
